Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. She was moved to Oxfordshire when she was five years old and attended at the Dragon School. Emma was aspired to be a professional actress when she was just six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school that offers part-time classes. When she was ten, she had performed and taken the lead in various Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Casting began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was spotted by Emma's Oxford Theatre instructor. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been chosen for these characters. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first appearance on the big screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001, the film set records for its debut day revenue as well as its opening weekend earnings. The film has been praised by critics for its film as well as the performance by three young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma was awarded five nominations for her impressive performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in an Film.
